LUCKNOW, July 20 -- A 22-year-old man was arrested by Vibhuti Khand police on Friday night for possessing nearly 1.2 kilograms of weed. The arrest took place during routine night patrolling, according to a police department's press release issued on Saturday. The accused, Mohammad Kalam, tried to run away after spotting the police in the Vibhutikhand area, but officers quickly caught him. Upon searching him, police found five packets of weed, weighing a total of 1,190 grams, officials said. Kalam could not provide any legal documents for the contraband. As a result, police filed an FIR under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at the Vibhutikhand police station. Police officials said that Kalam used to sell weed in small packets to passers-by and spent the money to meet personal needs. He is originally from Bhanmau village in Barabanki district and had been living in the state capital's Vibhuti Khand market area. The arrest was made by a patrolling team led by police officer Asit Kumar Yadav. Further investigation is ongoing to identify the source of the drugs....
