Man held for sexually assaulting minor: Cops
Udaipur, Aug. 12 -- A 30-year-old man was arrested for the sexual abuse of an eight-year-old girl in Dabok on Monday, police said, adding that the incident led to violent protests in the area.
" The child had gone alone to a nearby field when the accused approached her, covered her mouth, dragged her into nearby bushes, and attacked her before fleeing," said Dabok station house officer, Hukam Singh.
As news of the incident spread, police said, hundreds of local residents gathered outside the police station to demand immediate action against the accused.
The situation worsened to the point wherein a blockade was created on the Udaipur-Dabok highway and multiple police vehicles were damaged, they added.
Superintendent of police (SP) Yogesh Goyal said " The accused has been arrested and the situation is completely under control, but despite quick police action and arrest of the accused, a few anti social elements pelted stones on the police vehicles and police teams... Police then resorted to mild lathi charge to disburse the crowd. But we have identified as many as 22 people so far who had pelted stones on the police teams, they have been detained and more people will likely to be detained."...
