Hyderabad, Dec. 27 -- The Hyderabad police on Friday arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly killing his 26-year-old wife by setting her ablaze at their home, officers said. The accused, K Venkatesh, also attempted to push his six-year-old daughter into the fire, but she escaped with minor injuries, Nallakunta police inspector K Maruti Prasad told reporters. "The man went absconding soon after the incident and was arrested in the early hours of Friday. He will be produced before the court for judicial remand," the inspector said. Nallakunta police booked Venkatesh for murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS based on a complaint lodged by the victim's father, Chityala Appaiah. "The victim's body was handed over to the family on Thursday after the post-mortem," Prasad said. According to police, Venkatesh, a daily wage labourer, and his wife, a hotel worker, had moved from Huzur Nagar in Nalgonda to Hyderabad five years ago.
