Man held for obscene acts, stalking in Doon
Dehradun, Jan. 20 -- A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stalking and committing obscene acts against a woman in public in the Dalanwala area of Dehradun, police said on Monday.
Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajai Singh said the woman filed a complaint on January 18, alleging that the incident took place the previous day on January 17, while she was walking on Old Dalanwala Road.
In her complaint, the woman further alleged that an unknown man followed her and indulged in obscene behaviour.
Taking note of the complaint, the police initially registered a case under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75(2) (sexual harassment), 78(2) (stalking), 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 296(A) (obscene acts) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified person. The SSP said a police team examined CCTV footage from cameras installed at the crime scene and surrounding areas. Based on technical evidence and field verification, the accused was identified and arrested from his residence on Monday.
