Man held for murdering son on suspicion of illicit relationship
PRAYAGRAJ, April 27 -- The Kareli police on Saturday night arrested Girish Chandra alias Pappu Jaiswal, who allegedly murdered his 19-year-old son, Priyanshu, after accusing him and his wife of having an illicit relationship.
Following the crime, the accused- a native of Chaka Naini- had gone absconding. However, a police team led by ACP Nikita Srivastava and Kareli police station SHO Ashish Singh successfully traced and apprehended him.
According to the police, during interrogation, the accused confessed to murdering his eldest son on suspicion that the latter had an inappropriate relationship with his mother.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Chat Wali Gali under the Kareli police station area. Pappu Jaiswal lived in a rented house in Kareli with his wife Ranjana and their three sons.
Police and family members revealed that the accused was addicted to drugs and frequently doubted his wife's character, often subjecting her to physical abuse. On Friday night as well, he reportedly had a heated argument with his wife over the same issue.
Following the altercation, Priyanshu took his mother to her maternal home in Meerapur to ensure her safety. Later that night, he returned alone and went to sleep in a room on the ground floor. His younger brothers- Aryan (13) and Anshu (10)- slept on the terrace.
Police said that in the early hours of Saturday, the accused allegedly attacked Priyanshu while he was asleep, repeatedly striking his head and face with a heavy blunt object. After committing the crime, he locked the room from outside and fled the house.
Further investigation is underway.
Police have registered a case against four individuals in connection with a knife attack on three youths in the Patti area of Pratapgarh on Saturday evening. The attack was allegedly carried out to pressure the victims into withdrawing a previously filed legal case.
According to the complaint, Vijay Yadav, Shivam Yadav, and Vijay Kumar alias 'Goli' had gone to bathe in the village pond around 3.30 pm on Saturday. During this time, Vijay Yadav-who is employed as a Junior Engineer in the Panchayati Raj Department-was allegedly assaulted with a knife.
When other youths present at the pond rushed to his rescue, they too were attacked and sustained serious injuries. The assailants reportedly fled after leaving the victims bleeding.
Based on the written complaint, police have booked Kuldeep Chaurasia, Vinay Chaurasia, Sachin Chaurasia and Santosh Yadav, all residents of the same village, under multiple serious sections of the IPC, including attempted murder.
The investigation has been handed over to Vijay Kumar Yadav, In-charge of the Rur Police Outpost. SHO of Parti police station Anandpal Bhadauria the FIR has been registered and that the accused are currently absconding. Police teams have been deployed to arrest them.
A 50-year-old vegetable vendor was killed in a hitand-run incident while returning home on his motorcycle after delivering a wedding invitation for his daughter's marriage.
The deceased, Budhram Verma, a resident of Sandwa Chandrika under Antu police station limits of Pratapgarh, had gone to Admapur village on Sunday to invite a relative to his daughter's wedding.
While returning home, as he came on the main road outside the Admapur village, a speeding unidentified vehicle rammed into his motorcycle from behind.
The impact threw him onto the road along with the bike, leaving him critically injured.
Local residents immediately rushed Budhram Verma to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Sandwa Chandrika where he was declared dead on arrival.
On receiving information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination....
