Man going to Mumbai for treatmentfaints at Lko airport, dies
LUCKNOW, Jan. 16 -- An elderly passenger scheduled to fly to Mumbai for treatment died after collapsing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport here on Thursday, airport officials said.
The incident occurred around noon near the VIP lounge, where fellow passengers noticed the man lying unconscious and alerted airport authorities. A medical response team reached the spot within minutes and found the passenger in critical condition, with low blood pressure and oxygen levels.
The man was later identified as Mohammad Ali, a resident of Basti district in his 60s, who was to travel to Mumbai with his son and daughter-in-law on an Air India flight. According to airport officials, Ali had a history of prolonged illness and was being taken to Mumbai for further treatment.
Despite immediate oxygen support at the airport, doctors advised urgent hospitalisation. However, family members initially declined the transfer, delaying emergency care. After intervention and counseling by airport and airline officials, the family agreed to shift him to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Airport authorities confirmed that the medical team received the emergency call at 11:17 am and reached the passenger by 11:19 am. Police later completed legal formalities, conducted a post-mortem examination, and handed over the body to the family.
