Haldwani, Nov. 6 -- Police have launched an investigation after a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing two men forcing a local resident from a minority community to chant religious slogans in Haldwani, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the incident took place near the Judge's Court area along Nainital Road in Kathgodam. The victim, a resident of the locality, was reportedly standing near the court when two men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly demanded that he chant religious slogans , said police, adding that when he refused, the duo allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. Police said the victim reportedly recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone. The purported video, which later went viral on social media, shows one of the accused issuing threats while insisting that the man chant the slogan, they added. Confirming the development, Haldwani police inspector Amar Chandra Sharma said that the matter is being taken seriously. "We have received a complaint from the victim. The incident is being verified and an investigation has been initiated. Appropriate legal action will be taken once the inquiry is complete," he said....
