LUCKNOW, May 24 -- In a bizarre case of cyber fraud, Kaleem Ahmad of Preeti Nagar, Madiaon, was duped of Rs 1 lakh while attempting to buy fruits online via a Google search. However, swift action by the cyber crime cell, Hazratganj, led to the recovery of the full amount. As per the details shared by the cyber cell, the incident took place on April 14 when Kaleem searched online for a fruit vendor and came across a contact number. Unaware that it belonged to a fraudster, he called. The scammer tricked Kaleem into transferring Rs 1 lakh from his Indian Overseas Bank account. Realising he had been scammed, Kaleem promptly alerted his bank and filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell, Hazratganj. "A case was registered, and immediate action was taken," stated a press note.
