Mussoorie, Nov. 7 -- A 40-year-old man was killed and his teenage son critically injured after their motorcycle plunged into a deep gorge near Galogi on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road on Thursday. The accident occurred at a stretch where embankment construction work had recently been carried out, police said. According to officials, the duo was travelling towards Dehradun when the bike skidded and lost balance on a curve, sending both the riders tumbling into the 300-metre-deep gorge. Following the alert, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Mussoorie police rushed to the spot with rescue equipment and launched a joint operation. "The motorcycle, bearing registration number UK 07AB 7926, fell nearly 300 metres down the hillside. The youth riding pillion was thrown off during the fall and found trapped on the mountainside in an injured condition," said Devendra Chauhan, Station House Officer (SHO), Mussoorie. Police, with assistance from local residents, pulled the injured boy out of the gorge and rushed him to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. "Teams from the Mussoorie Fire Service and SDRF also reached the site and successfully recovered the body of the deceased, which was then transported to the hospital," Chauhan said....
