Man claims he consumed poison before reaching CM's Janata Darshan
LUCKNOW, Aug. 22 -- A 65-year-old man, whose letter to the authorities said he was a retired army personnel, on Thursday morning claimed that he had consumed a poisonous substance before entering the venue of the Chief Minister's Janata Darshan programme here.
"The incident occurred around 8:50 am when the man walked into the public grievance forum. Security personnel rushed him to the Civil Hospital," read a Lucknow police official statement.
According to officials, preliminary information suggested he had consumed the substance before arriving at the CM residence. "His condition is stable," said Civil Hospital chief medical superintendent Dr Rajesh Srivastava. Police said in an application recovered from him, the man identified himself as Satveer Gurjar and claimed to be a Kargil war veteran. He alleged that BJP MLA from Loni NK Gurjar was persecuting him and others of his constituency.
He claimed that after exposing certain activities on his social media page 'Satyavir Airman', he was being targeted and framed, including through inflated electricity bills. He added, "He (the MLA) wants to get me and my family killed. This morning, I reached the Chief Minister's Janata Darbar. Before entering, I consumed Sulphas."
Denying all the claims, the legislator, while speaking to HT over the phone, said, "I do not know the person who consumed poison. Nor has this person ever met me. I have nothing to do with this entire matter. An attempt is being made to tarnish my image," the MLA said.htc...
