Man chokes, bashes wife to death; caught
LUCKNOW, May 8 -- Suspicious that she was poisoning him since a few months, a man allegedly brutally murdered his wife in the Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow, police said on Wednesday.
On Monday, he took her to a secluded location where he pushed her into a 20 feet deep ditch and then strangled her before smashing her head with a cement brick, they added.
"Mohanlalganj police have arrested Sanjay Kumar Rawat, 30, for the brutal murder of his wife, Savita Devi (28), whose body was found near Mohiddinpur on Kisan Path on May 5 ," said deputy commissioner of police (South) Nipun Agarwal.
Sanjay, during his interrogation, reportedly told police that he doubted that his wife was feeding his some sort of poison due to which he had been unwell for some time. The DCP said his relatives told them that Sanjay was involved with a relative of his wife, due to which the couple had strained relationships.
"On May 5, he took her to a secluded area near Mohiddinpur. There, he pushed her into a 20-ft deep ditch and strangled her using her saree. Later, he delivered a fatal blow to her head with a cement brick, causing her death," police said.
After his arrest, Sanjay, an agricultural worker, was sent to judicial custody....
