Man burnt alive on high-tension pole
LUCKNOW, April 18 -- In a shocking incident pointing towards "negligence", a 30-year-old man was electrocuted and burnt alive atop a high-tension electricity pole in UP's Badaun district on Friday. Arvind Kumar died after allegedly being electrocuted and burnt while repairing a fault and shifting a private tubewell line atop a pole in Dhimarpur village around 11 am. Family members alleged local lineman Yashveer had called him and assured a shutdown, but supply was suddenly restored. Eyewitnesses said Arvind got a shock, lost balance, fell onto live wires, became entangled and caught fire while screaming. The blaze was so intense that his head got severed and fell to the ground, while the torso remained stuck in the wires. Police said the body remained there for nearly four hours before retrieval. Electricity officials ordered an inquiry; police await the post-mortem report....
