Rudrapur, Jan. 16 -- A 21-year-old man was found bludgeoned to death under suspicious circumstances in Gularghati village of Ramnagar in Nainital district on Thursday morning, police said. According to police, they received information that a body was lying at the edge of a canal in Gularghati village under Ramnagar police station limits. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and took the body into custody for postmortem examination. "The deceased's face was severely bludgeoned. We have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death," said Sushil Kumar, inspector, Ramnagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Sameer alias Lucky, a resident of Adarsh Colony, Ramnagar. His brother Imran told police that Sameer had left home around 7 pm on Wednesday and did not return. Family members searched for him throughout the night but were unable to trace him. His body was discovered near the canal on Thursday morning. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also visited the crime scene and collected samples and other evidence. Police are scanning nearby CCTV footage to identify suspects and reconstruct the events leading to the killing. Inspector Kumar said that some suspects have been taken into custody for questioning. "We are waiting for a formal complaint from the deceased's relatives, after which further legal action will be initiated," he added....
