Meerut, May 12 -- A longstanding family dispute over a small residential property turned tragic late Saturday night in Doghat town of Baghpat district, when a 75-year-old man was beaten to death by his grandson. According to police, the victim, Satyaveer, son of Bhawar Singh, lived with his daughter-in-law Soni and granddaughter Aditi in a 100-square-yard house. On Saturday night, his grandson Sachin, a bus driver, returned home and demanded that the house be transferred to his name. When Satyaveer refused, Sachin allegedly attacked him with sticks and rods. The elderly man died on the spot. The incident caused panic in the neighbourhood. Sachin fled immediately after the assault. Police reached the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for postmortem. A murder case was filed by the victim's son, Lokendra, and an FIR was registered against Sachin. Vijay Kumar, circle officer of Baraut, confirmed that Sachin was arrested during a police raid and is being interrogated. He will be produced in court soon.
