PRAYAGRAJ, May 15 -- A man attacked his elder brother's sister-in-law with a sharp-edged weapon and injured her after she allegedly rebuffed him for his overtures and did not answer his phone calls, in a village under Manda police station in trans-Yamuna region of the district late Tuesday night. Following the incident, the man was thrashed by kin and villagers. Both the victim girl and the accused have been admitted to SRN hospital for treatment by the local police team which reached the site after getting the information, said police officials. As per the police, a 24-year-old youth, a resident of a village under Manda police station area, visited his elder brother's in-laws' village on Tuesday night to attend a wedding ceremony. He reached his brother's in-laws' house late at night, met his 23-year-old sister-in-law outside the house, and questioned her for not picking up his phone calls despite repeated attempts. When the girl said that she was not interested in talking to him, the youth allegedly got upset and stabbed her with a sharp-edged weapon he was carrying with him. Hearing her screams, the family members rushed out and beat up the youth and informed the police. Police took both youth and the young woman to Manda community health centre (CHC) from where, after first aid, the doctors referred them to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj city for further treatment, said SHO of Manda police station Shailendra Singh. "A complaint is yet to be received by us. A probe is underway, and we will act further as soon as a complaint is received," he said....
