VARANASI, Aug. 24 -- A man allegedly attacked Lal Singh, superintending engineer of the electricity department, with a shoe at his Civil Lines office in Ballia district on Saturday, police said. The accused, Munna Bahadur Singh of Sagarpali, reportedly arrived with around 25 accomplices, demanding action over delayed electricity repairs. Police said Singh hurled abuses, damaged government documents, and broke items in the office. Based on Lal Singh's complaint, a case has been registered against Singh and over a dozen unidentified accomplices under relevant sections of the BNS. Additional superintendent of police Kripa Shankar confirmed that several police teams have been deployed to arrest the accused.
