LUCKNOW, Aug. 11 -- To avenge his alleged lover's death reportedly by suicide, a man attacked her mother with an axe in Kathwara village within Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) police station limits on Saturday afternoon, leaving her critically injured, police said. The accused, identified as Vinit alias Golu Rawat, is absconding, they added. As per reports, 42-year-old Anju Gautam, wife of Ram Lakhan and resident of Bagaha in Itaunja, visited her maternal home in Kathwara with her son Mohit on Raksha Bandhan. While returning, Vinit allegedly attacked her near Kandaila culvert on Kathwara-Shivpuri road. Mohit, who tried to shield his mother, also sustained injuries. According to Bakshi Ka Talab ACP Amol Murkut, Vinit was allegedly in a relationship with Anju's daughter, Mohini. About six weeks ago, Mohini reportedly died by suicide after her family opposed the relationship. Police suspect Vinit attacked Anju to avenge Mohini's death. Police rushed Anju to a private hospital, from where she was referred to Balrampur Hospital, while Mohit was administered first aid. A case has been registered in this regard, while efforts are on to track down the accused, police said....
