Man arrested for using forged Aadhaar to get drug licence
VARANASI, Dec. 25 -- A man has been arrested in Adalhat area of Mirzapur for allegedly using a forged Aadhaar card to obtain a drug licence and set up a firm that received about 1,42,000 vials of cough syrup from a Delhi-based company. The accused has been identified as Shivam Dwivedi. Police said a drug inspector had filed a case against him on December 3 for obtaining a licence for the firm Sunrise Traders in Jamalpur Baruipur, Adalhat, using forged documents.
ASP, Mirzapur, Manish Kumar Mishra, said a case was registered under several sections of the NDPS Act and other relevant laws at Adalhat police station. Police investigations revealed that the Aadhaar card used for the drug licence had a fake address in Narayanpur, Adalhat, while the card used for the firm's bank account showed an address in Mohalla Phulwaria, Varanasi. This confirmed that the Aadhaar card used for the licence was forged.
Shivam Dwivedi's firm, Sunrise Traders, had received about 1,42,000 bottles of cough syrup. The firm's bank accounts in HDFC Bank, Sigra, and Central Bank, Varanasi, showed a turnover of around Rs.8.25 crore. Police said they are coordinating with the GST department to track bills, vehicle numbers and other details related to the goods.
