man accused of murder held in Dehradun: Cops
Dehradun, Nov. 7 -- The Dehradun Police have arrested a man accused of murder, who had been absconding for several months following the death of his friend during a birthday party earlier this year, police said.
The accused, identified as Aman (28), son of Kishan, a resident of Shimla Bypass Road, Laxmangarhi Mehunwala, was arrested from the Patel Nagar area , officers said.
Police also recovered the pistol used in the incident, which resulted in the death of 24-year-old Sagar, one of Aman's companions, during a celebration in May.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh said on Wednesday evening that on May 20, 2025, a case was registered at Patel Nagar police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Aman Giri, brother of the deceased. "The complaint stated that Sagar was shot by his friend Aman while the two, along with others, were attending a birthday party.
He said acting on a tip-off, a police team tracked down the accused on November 4 in the Patel Nagar area. Officers recovered a .32 mm pistol believed to be the same weapon used in the shooting.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act....
