Man accused of murder, sexual assault of two girls acquitted by MP HC
Bhopal, Oct. 1 -- The Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court has acquitted a man facing capital punishment fir kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and murdering two girls in April 22, citing lack of concrete evidence and serious flaws in the police probe.
A bench of judges Vivek Agrawal and Avanindra Singh acquitted Giridhari Sonwane of all charges on September 27. "He be released forthwith, if not required in any other case," the order said. The court noted that the prosecution failed to establish the crime beyond reasonable doubt, relying solely on an eyewitness account that claimed the girls were last seen with the accused.
