PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 7 -- After a 10-year-old girl was found to have died under suspicious circumstances, police in the Tharwai area in Kaushambi have taken her father into custody. The girl's mother accused the father of strangulating her. The girl, who lived with her father Ashutosh Mishra in the Soodi Ka Pura hamlet under Tharwai police station limits, died on Monday afternoon. Later, Mishra informed his estranged wife Vandana and reportedly told her that their daughter had been suffering from stomach pain. As Vandana and her family informed the police, Mishra was taken into custody. When questioned by the police, Ashutosh claimed that the girl died after falling from the stairs. SHO Santosh Kumar Pandey said the death appeared to be suspicious and that a previous similar incident had also occurred in the family. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem report....
