Haridwar, Oct. 15 -- Three members of a family, including a trustee, have been booked for allegedly embezzling Rs.50 lakh from the Mahant Raghuvanshpuri Kaura Devi Trust, police said. According to officials at the Jwalapur police station, a case has been registered against trustee Dr Bharat Tiwari, his wife Shaila Tiwari, and their son Vibhu Tiwari on charges of cheating and forgery. The case was filed on the complaint of Vishal Sharma, secretary of the Mahant Raghuvanshpuri Kaura Devi Trust. In his complaint, Sharma alleged that Bharat Tiwari had been misappropriating trust funds since September 2021 by transferring money in phases into the bank account of his son Vibhu Tiwari, purportedly as short-term loans. However, the money was never returned, resulting in a total loss of Rs.50 lakh to the trust. "On September 10, the trust board demanded repayment of the amount taken in the name of a loan. Bharat Tiwari not only refused but also allegedly threatened other trustees," said Kundan Singh Rana, SHO of Jwalapur police station. "A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Further investigation is underway," the SHO added....
