LUCKNOW, June 22 -- A massive fire broke out in a cluster of tin-shed shops near MD Palace, Adil Nagar, on Kursi Road, early on Saturday, destroying at least 16 shops. No loss of life was reported. The fire, which spread rapidly due to highly inflammable materials like plastic, shoes, clothes, and bags, triggered panic. Locals alerted the Indira Nagar fire station control room, following which two fire engines from Indira Nagar and BKT stations, along with the fire station safety officer (FSSO) of BKT, rushed to the spot. Additional firefighting teams from Hazratganj and Gomti Nagar stations joined the operation under the supervision of FSO Gomti Nagar and FSSO BKT. Firefighters used cutters to break the locks of shut shops and surrounded the fire from all sides to prevent it from spreading further. The operation continued for several hours, with vehicles refilling water from nearby sources and returning promptly to the scene. "All affected shops, made of tin shed, were completely destroyed in the fire. These included shops selling slippers, clothes, polythene, locks, and other goods," a fire officer said. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. A detailed assessment of damage is expected....
