LUCKNOW, Nov. 8 -- Uttar Pradesh director general of prisons, PC Meena, has directed senior officials to maintain strict security inside jails and ensure that banned items are not allowed there. He was speaking during a meeting via video conference with regional deputy inspectors general of prisons and senior superintendents/ superintendents of prisons on Friday. Meena emphasised that any irregularity or negligence would not be tolerated and action would be taken against those found guilty. He directed officials to be vigilant and conduct regular searches to prevent smuggling of banned items into jails. The DG prisons also directed jail superintendents to regularly interact with inmates, address their grievances and ensure timely solutions.
