Lucknow, Oct. 19 -- The Ashiana police arrested the main accused in an interstate cheating racket linked to the Hostel Warden Exam-2023 here on Saturday morning. After a tip-off, the accused, identified as Ranjeet Kumar Karasolia, 30, was taken into custody during a routine check on Sky Hilton Road, opposite Gautam Buddha Shanti Upvan Park 2. The arrest comes almost two years after the case came to light on December 17, 2023, when Vinay Kumar Sharma, principal of M.G. Convent School, Sector-G, LDA Colony, Ashiana, informed police about a suspicious candidate appearing for the hostel warden exam by submitting different photographs over the years. Initially, the Ashiana police detained Sushil Kumar, a resident of Aurangabad, Bihar, who was allegedly impersonating Karasolia. Following the initial arrest, an FIR was registered under sections 419/420 IPC and 4/10 of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Sections 467/468/471 IPC were subsequently added. Sushil Kumar was sent to jail, and a police team was formed to apprehend Karasolia. After his arrest, Karasolia, resident of Bhopur Bhopar village under Balghat police station in Karauli district, Rajasthan, was produced in court.
