Mahanagar Woman duped of Rs 34 lakh in digital arrest scam
Lucknow, Oct. 15 -- In another case of cyber fraud, unidentified miscreants posing as officers of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) duped a woman of Rs34 lakh in Mahanagar. The victim, a resident of Sector C, said the fraudsters harassed her for 14 days, sending fake warrants and seizure orders via WhatsApp and threatening action. Out of fear, she transferred Rs34 lakh through RTGS to multiple accounts. She said the caller's number displayed "ATS Department" in the background.
