Magisterial probe into clash between lawyers, cop
Varanasi, Sept. 22 -- A magisterial inquiry will be held into the alleged assault of a sub-inspector by a group of advocates on the court premises last Tuesday.
The decision was taken in a meeting between senior officials, including police commissioner Mohit Agarwal, divisional commissioner S Rajalingam, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar, and an 11-member delegation of lawyers led by Central Bar Association president Manglesh Dubey.
Police commissioner Agarwal said no action will be taken against any advocate until the inquiry is completed. Dubey thanked officials for restoring dialogue and said efforts will be made to find an amicable solution. Lawyers on Saturday boycotted judicial work in protest against registration of an FIR against 10 lawyers who allegedly beat a sub inspector on the court premises....
