luthra brothers remanded in judicial custody till january 9
Panaji, Dec. 30 -- A local court in Goa on Monday sent Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra - brothers and co-owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, where a fire claimed 25 lives on the night of December 6, to judicial custody until January 9.
The brothers were produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class Suman Gad on Monday and requested that the prescription tablets supplied to them in police custody, be continued in judicial custody. The judge, in turn, while granting the request, ordered that the duo be produced for a medical examination.
"So far they have not filed any application for bail," said advocate Parag Rao, representing the brothers.
The brothers were arrested by the Goa Police on December 16, the day they landed in Delhi after being deported from Bangkok, Thailand, where they had fled on the morning of December 7.
The police also submitted before the court, an application to declare Surinder Kumar Khosla, the property owner, as a proclaimed offender in a bid to secure an Interpol blue corner notice against him. Khosla, 76, a British citizen, is yet to respond to the Police notices to report to the investigating authorities.
Meanwhile, Adv Vishnu Joshi, who represents some of the the victims' families, has said that they will oppose the anticipatory bail applications filed by Luthra brothers in the second FIR filed against them....
