Lucknow to host SMAT Trophy in November
LUCKNOW, June 17 -- Lucknow will be playing host of the prestigious Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy matches this season between November 26 to December 8 along with cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The knockout matches of the event will be played at Indore.
As per the BCCI, which announced the annual calendar of the new domestic season on Monday, Lucknow will also be hosting the Elite Group matches of Vinoo Mankad Trophy between October 9 to 25 along with Haryana, Pondy, Dehradun and ranchi. The knockout matches will be held at Rajkot.
The city has also been shortlisted for the women's under-19 T20 plate group matches betweeb Octiber 26 to November 2 before hosting the knockout matches in the first week of November. The women's under-19 one day trophy elite group matches will also be played in Lucknow between December 13 to 21 along with cities like Mumbai, Baroda, Hyderabad and Trivandrum.
A sparkling century by Piyush Kushwaha helped hosts REPL Cricket Academy (REPLCA) win the Under-16 Inter Club Cricket Tournament, defeating Creators Cricket Club (CCC) by 120 runs, at the Parth Republic Ground here on Monday. Keeper-batter Kushwaha smacked 123-ball 150 with the help of 13 boundaries and eight sixes as REPLCA piled up 291/8 in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Kushwaha along with fellow opener Amogh Singh (42, 67b, 4x4) added 146 runs for the opening wicket.
Shlok Gupta (24, 17b, 3x4) and captain Adarsh Raj (21, 12b, 4x4) also made useful contributions. For CCC, Adwitiya Shukla remained the highest wicket taker with 4/22, whereas Kaif took 2/57. There was no respite for CCC when they began the run chase as they were reduced to 3/23 in the fifth over. Openers Adwitiya Shukla (7), Firoz Ahmad (0) and Pratyush Somvanshi (12) departed in quick succession. Keeper-batter Abhay Singh tried his best to adorn the innings then, scoring 32-ball 34 with the help of three boundaries and two sixes, but to no avail as CCC could make 171 in 32.3 overs. Kaif (27, 46b, 3x4) and Kishan Sahani (25, 36b, 2x4, 1x6) were the other main run getters. Pacer Abhishek Pandit remained the most successful bowler for REPLCC, bagging 3/39....
