Lucknow survey team attacked in Prayagraj, 5 hurt
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 24 -- A Lucknow team surveying roads and lanes in Prayagraj was attacked on Tuesday in the Bahadurpur area of Jhunsi, leaving five people injured, including a supervisor from the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, police said.
The remote sensing team members were taking photos of lanes using mobile phones when locals mistook them for thieves and launched attack. The team promptly filed a report at Sarai Inayat police station against assailants, officials shared.
Speaking about the incident, Vijay, the injured municipal corporation supervisor, said that the villagers began questioning them while they were taking photos. Despite showing their I- cards, the locals remained suspicious and believed they had come to commit theft.
Along with Vijay, Ashish Kumar, Shashank, Mohammad Imran, and Abhinav Mishra of the team were injured in the attack. Upon learning about the incident, Ram Saxena, the assistant engineer of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, reached the spot. He first took the injured to Sarai Inayat police station and then to a nearby health center for medical examination.
The police registered a named FIR against eight residents of Bahadur village and 20 unidentified individuals. htc...
