LUCKNOW, Nov. 9 -- The Lucknow-Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express was flagged off from Lucknow Junction (narrow gauge line). Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the train from Varanasi, while deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak flagged it off from Lucknow. In a special gesture, students were among the first passengers to travel on the maiden journey. "The semi-high-speed train will run six days a week (except Monday) and complete the 7-hour 45-minute journey between Lucknow and Saharanpur-saving passengers nearly an hour compared to existing express trains," said Pankaj Singh, CPRO, NER, Gorakhpur. The new service will halt at Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Bijnor before reaching Saharanpur, improving connectivity for both commuters and pilgrims travelling to Haridwar via Roorkee.
