Lucknow police seize over 250 kg of illegal firecrackers
Lucknow, Oct. 8 -- In a significant crackdown ahead of Diwali, Lucknow police on Monday seized over 250 kg of illegal firecrackers, including rockets and homemade explosives, from a house in the Nagaram area, and four individuals involved in the illicit operation were also detained, police said on Tuesday.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of ACP Mohanlalganj Rajneesh Verma, following a tip-off about unlawful firecracker storage and manufacturing in the locality. During the operation, police recovered multiple sacks of firecrackers and a large stash of sutli bombs.
Preliminary interrogation of the individuals revealed that they were preparing to sell the fireworks in local markets ahead of the festive season. Authorities are now probing the network behind the illegal operation and tracing the source of the explosive materials.
ACP Verma stated that the police have launched special campaigns to prevent accidents and illegal activities during the festival.
"Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such unlawful operations," he added.
