Lucknow police launch selfie campaign
LUCKNOW, Sept. 30 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative under Mission Shakti 5.0, Lucknow Police on Monday rolled out a digital campaign, 'Har Nari Shakti Swaroop Hai' (Every Woman Embodies Power), to raise awareness on women's safety, dignity and empowerment.
The campaign began with the launch of a digital selfie booth, where women and girls can click selfies and post them on Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), tagging the official handles of Lucknow Police. "Selected selfies will be featured on the police's official social media pages," additional DCP (Crime) Kiran Yadav said.
Breaking from tradition, ADCP (Crime) inaugurated the booth at a shopping mall not by cutting a ribbon but by clicking a selfie herself, joined by probationary ACP Apoorva Pandey and ACP (Office) Anushka.
To expand reach, the police partnered with an FM station. ACP (Women & Crime) Saumya Pandey went live on-air, urging citizens, especially youth and women, to actively engage with the campaign. "The larger goal of the campaign is to ensure every woman in the city feels that Mission Shakti is not just a government programme, but her own movement of empowerment," police commissioner Amrendra K Sengar said....
