Lucknow police issue nearly 7,000 challans in two hours
LUCKNOW, Jan. 7 -- In just two hours on Monday evening, Lucknow police pulled off what typically takes days, checking over 12,000 two-wheelers, issuing close to 7,000 challans, and seizing more than 160 vehicles in a coordinated citywide crackdown on traffic violators.
"The operation across all 54 police stations and five city zones, West, Central, North, East, and South, along with traffic police, examined 12,645 vehicles during two one-hour shifts between 3-4 pm and 7-8 pm. The drive resulted in 6,859 challans and the seizure of 163 vehicles," Lucknow police stated. Several seized vehicles were found without proper registration plates or with illegal modifications.
Joint commissioner of police (Law & Order) Bablu Kumar, who supervised the drive, said the operation targeted violations including riding without helmets, overspeeding, triple-riding, using modified silencers, and driving with invalid or missing documents. "The crackdown covered key locations such as Kaiserbagh Hussainganj, Nakhas, Atal Chowk, Telibagh, 1090, IT Chowraha, Nishatganj, and Awadh Chowraha."
