LUCKNOW, June 1 -- Lucknow Police on Saturday destroyed 1,206 litres of raw liquor linked to 137 excise cases registered between 2020 and 2024 at the Nagaram police station. The seized stock, valued at approximately Rs 4 lakh in the illicit market, was disposed of under the state's ongoing goods destruction campaign, a press release issued by the police department stated. The action followed a directive issued by the director general of police, Uttar Pradesh, to ensure systematic disposal of confiscated contraband. Lucknow Police said that all 137 excise cases had already been charge-sheeted in court. The raw liquor, stored in the police station's malkhana, was awaiting court permission for disposal.
