LUCKNOW, Nov. 7 -- Within five months of its establishment, Lucknow Falcons Football Club (LFFC) has achieved a rare success, qualifying for the All India Football Federation's Youth Elite U18 League after finishing as the second best team in the group stage event here last month. The LFFC, which also finished runners-up in this year's Lucknow District Football League, will play seven home matches at its home ground at the Ekana Football Stadium and seven away matches during the zonal rounds. The other team, who have qualified from Lucknow, are the Techtro Football Club, LFFC's chief coach Chandan Rathod said in the zonal rounds are set to begin from November 17 and the eight teams in fray are Rajasthan, United FC, Sudeva Delhi FC, Lakecity FC, Juba Sangh FC, Delhi FC, Techtro Lucknow, Zinc Football Academy and Lucknow Falcons FC. "It's a big opportunity for LFFC to make their presence felt in a big way and we are not going to leave any stone unturned to make our debut a great success,": said Rathod. "Ever since we got our club registered under the AIFF as a CRS in the last week of July, we have been putting our best foot forward for the betterment of football culture in Lucknow." Besides qualifying for the U18 zonal leagues, a few LFFC players including Gaurish Motto, Rajan Pandey and Vihan Nigam went on representing Lucknow district in other events, whereas Motto even represented Uttar Pradesh in the sub-junior nationals. "We are also in the process to participate in the upcoming AIFF youth league of U14 Sub-Junior and U16 Junior too," he added. Ravinder Pal XI and KD Singh Babu XI notched up convincing wins in the 2nd Vijay Mitra Dwivedi (Chakai Dadda) Memorial Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament, at the CB Gupta Ground here on Thursday. Ravinder Pal XI defeated Barabanki's Gandhi Club 7-3, whereas KD Singh Babu XI defeated Vijay Mitra Dwivedi XI by 4-0. Anika, Lakshya, Chaitanya, Suryansh, Navya, and Shishupal achieved golden success for the hosts on the first day of the 41st Sub-Junior, 9th Cadet, and 42nd Senior UP State Taekwondo Championship here on Thursday.
