Lucknow Falcon Football Club in final
LUCKNOW, Jan. 20 -- Local outfits Lucknow Falcon Football Club defeated Tractors Red Football Club 4-3 in the penalty shootout to advance to the final of the Satwant Singh and Ravindra Pal Singh Memorial Football Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Monday. The two teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of the regulation time and in tie-breaker, Lucknow Falcons prevailed over the rivals.
As many as six players from Vidyasthali Kanar Inter College in Malihabad have been selected in the 12-member Uttar Pradesh team for the Under-15 National Rugby Championship, beginning Tuesday in Bhubaneswar.
The team included Himanshu, Shorya, Nitin Pal, Lucky Pratap Singh, Anurag Kumar Rawat, Ashutosh Singh, Lucky, Pankaj, Arun, Anurag, Sagar and Sumit. Coach Shubham Pratap Singh on Monday said that boys were well prepared to give their best at the nationals.
"Boys are well prepared and are ready to give their best. Uttar Pradesh have earned a special reputation in rugby in the domestic circuit," said coach Shubham.
"Even after finishing fourth at the nationals, our girls have qualified for the Khelo India Youth Games. Four girls from Vidyasthali are part of the team. They are: Anamika Yadav, Mayuri Kanojia, Nancy Yadav, and Alfisha Siddiqui. It's a matter of great pride for Vidyasthali Kanar Inter College trainees," he said.
The 36th All India KD Singh Babu Under-14 Sub-Junior Boys Hockey Tournament is scheduled to be held from February 2 to 11, at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Hockey Stadium here. Trials to select the Uttar Pradesh team will take place on January 22 and 23, at the CB Gupt Khel Maidan here....
