Lucknow Falcon Club win on home ground
LUCKNOW, Aug. 9 -- Playing on home ground always helps a team remain more confident and this proved true for hosts Lucknow Falcon Club, who defeated Tektro Lucknow Reserve 3-0 in a Super League match of the District Football League-2025, at the Ekana Football Stadium here on Friday.
Making full use of the home conditions, Lucknow Falcon Club dominated the proceedings and maintained 2-0 lead at the half time. Sushant opened the account in the 22nd minute in the first half, whereas Birbal struck in the 35th minute.
Tektro Lucknow Reserve put up some fine defence in the second half of the match, but couldn't stop Ninado scoring the third goal for the winners in the 66th minute. In the second match, Tektro Lucknow Club defeated Yuva Club 6-0. Utkarsh scored in the eighth and 10th minute, whereas Kamal, Hrithik, Aditya and Ayan shared four goals between them.
The Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association on Friday felicitated its players, who did well for India at the international level in different events. They were: Apratim, Kartik, Shivam, Aryan, Adesh Singh and Ananya Singh. These spikers were honoured with ND Sharma Sports Pratibha Alankaran. On the occasion, UP's Deputy CM, Brijesh Pathak, president of the Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association, expressed the need for a special scheme to take volleyball to every village. He said that volleyball practice should be started in every Gram Panchayat and a coordinator should be appointed in every block and work should be done to arrange for net and ball. Indian Volleyball Federation's general secretary, Ramanand Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Sports Director RP Singh and Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association's general secretary Anandeshwar Pandey also wished a bright future to international volleyball stars of Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow's Vivek Yadav emerged champion of the Uttar Pradesh State Tenpin Bowling Ranking Tournament, after defeating compatriot Sumit Vaish in a thrilling final with a score of 365-344. In the first qualifier, Sumit defeated Sandeep Marwah of Kanpur with a score of 383-325, whereas Vivek defeated Lucknow's Priyanshu Yadav 377-327....
