Lucknow campus of EFLU gets permanent address
Lucknow, Aug. 13 -- To promote quality education of English and other foreign languages, the Uttar Pradesh government transferred land for the construction of a permanent campus for the establishment of Lucknow campus of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad (Central University), a government spokesperson said.
At present, the university is temporarily operating at RTTC Complex, Kanpur Road, Lucknow. A total of 2.3239 hectares of land was identified for this project by the district magistrate Lucknow in village Chakauli of Bijnor Pargana, Tehsil Sarojini Nagar, in Lucknow. According to the preliminary assessment, the value of the land was estimated at Rs 9,29,56,000 and the land revenue at Rs 34,858.50 per annum.
After the university expressed its inability to purchase the land, the state government, after getting approval from the Council of Ministers, decided to transfer this land free of cost to the Higher Education Department and make it available to the university on a lease of Rs 1 per annum. In order of approval, the land was registered in the revenue records and a formal lease deed was executed on August 12.
The land transfer ceremony was held at the residence of the Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay who was present as the chief guest in the event.
He was accompanied by Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari, Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh, principal secretary of Higher Education Department MP Agarwal, special secretary Nidhi Srivastava, secretary Amit Tripathi, vice chancellor of English and Foreign Languages University Prof N Nagaraju, registrar Prof M Hariprasad, director (Lucknow Campus) Prof Rajneesh Arora and other dignitaries.
Upadhyay said that the UP government is committed to providing global level linguistic education to the youth of the state. This university will provide new opportunities in the field of linguistic education, literature and linguistics.
