LUCKNOW, May 9 -- The executive council (EC) of Lucknow University on Thursday gave its nod to make its 63 teaching faculty regular. These teachers, recruited in the past, are on probation as of now. "Currently, there are 407 regular posts for teaching faculty members across various disciplines and over 150 contractual teaching faculty in the university," said LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava. The regular posts include those of professors, associate professors and assistant professors while contractual faculty include assistant professors. Among those whose appointments have been made regular in 20 departments of the university include 11 assistant professors in law, six assistant professors each in English and modern European languages, and political science, five assistant professors in education, one professor and associate professor each and three assistant professors in ancient Indian history and archaeology, one associate professor and three assistant professors each in geology and chemistry besides three assistant professors each in zoology, anthropology and Hindi. Besides, two assistant professors each in western history, social work and botany, one assistant professor each in physiology, applied economics, medieval and modern history, business administration and one associate professor each in journalism and mass communication, library and information science and sociology. The committee also approved affiliation for 11 new colleges, 72 new courses in affiliated colleges, permanent affiliation for 26 colleges, extension of temporary affiliation for 21 colleges, accepted proposals for change/upgradation of names of three colleges and proposal regarding change of name of college and permission for co-education in one college and proposal for termination of affiliation for one college during the meeting chaired by vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai....
