LU marks 105 years with alumni meet
LUCKNOW, Nov. 26 -- Lucknow University marked its 105th Foundation Day on Tuesday with an alumni gathering at Malviya Hall, bringing former students together in a setting filled with memories of earlier times.
The event was chaired by vice-chancellor Prof Manuka Khanna, while UP finance minister Suresh Khanna attended as the chief guest.
Cultural performances by the university's cultural unit "Sanskritiki" added colour to the evening. The lineup featured "Bharatanatyam", a poetry recital of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's lines, Ardhang (Shiv Stuti). Anna from Poland presented "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani", followed by a traditional dance by Dinuka from Sri Lanka.
Addressing the gathering, vice-chancellor Prof Manuka Khanna said the day honoured the university's foundation and reflected how its students have earned recognition in various fields across the country and abroad. She said the institution's 105-year journey carries a shared sense of belonging that should continue to be preserved.
"The university has completed 105 years and has also made several accomplishments. We also feel a part of this 105-year legacy, enriched by all these shared experiences. This unity should always be preserved," said Khanna in his address. He said the university's legacy continues to inspire the state and the country.
Khanna added that politics should be seen as a field of social service and encouraged students to consider it as a career option, adding that families should also support such aspirations....
