Lucknow, May 18 -- The Lucknow University has received record interest of 2,379 foreign students this academic session, which is the highest till date. The university has received 2,153 applications via the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), up to 176 applications under the Study in India and EDCIL programmes, and 50 applicants direct applications. The application forms will be available till June end. The University received 1,769, 1,365, 814 and 637 applications in the academic years 2024-25, 2023-2024, 2022-2023 and 2021-2022, respectively. Applications have been received from over 76 countries across the globe including Poland, France, Spain, Belarus, Russia, Sierra Leone, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Laos, Nigeria, Tanzania, Bangladesh and Ukraine. The students have expressed interest in the courses of almost every faculty, including professional programmes-MBA, engineering, pharmacy, and PhD. Prof Alok Kumar Rai, LU vice-chancellor, said, "We have developed our mechanism to impart global education in the framework of our National Education Policy. During the last 5 years we have transformed our educational ecosystem at par with global institutions, and that is being communicated across global takers. "The University has made special arrangements for boys and girls in separate international hostels. Besides ensuring a comfortable stay, the focus is on inducting them into an educational system that values a global perspective rooted in holistic development of the learner. We have our strict mechanism of screening the applicants as per the Government norms for admitting foreign nationals," he added....
