LUCKNOW, Feb. 13 -- The executive council of Lucknow University (LU) has put on hold the formation of several key administrative cells and senior academic positions, citing the absence of the Chancellor's approval for proposed amendments to the university's bylaws. The decision was taken at the council's meeting held on February 5, where members reviewed a proposal concerning the establishment of the Research Cell, Recruitment and Assessment Cell, Academic Cell, the post of Director for the New Campus, Dean, Dean of Admission, Recruitment and Assessment, and Dean of the College Development Council. According to officials, the council found that the process adopted for creating these cells and posts did not fully comply with the provisions laid down in the existing university bylaws. The amendments required to formally enable the creation of these positions are still awaiting the Chancellor's consent, making it procedurally inappropriate to proceed at this stage. As a result, the executive council resolved to defer the formation of the proposed cells and positions with immediate effect. To prevent any disruption in ongoing academic and administrative work, the vice- chancellor has been authorised to redistribute the responsibilities originally envisaged for the proposed deans and other offices among existing university officials.
