LUCKNOW, Dec. 1 -- Cricket Association Lucknow (CAL) today announced six teams for the first edition of the prestigious Lucknow Premier League, scheduled to be played in February-March 2026 here in Lucknow. CAL chief, Dr Navneet Sehgal while announcing the names of the teams, which are owned by prestigious corporate groups at a ceremony at Centrum Hotel, said that LPL will allow local cricketers to showcase their talent in a bigger way. "LPL will help Lucknow cricketers to showcase their talent at a bigger stage. It will also help them grow in the game and stake their claims for different state teams in the board trophies," said Sehgal. The allotment of six teams namely Lucknow Nawabs, Lucknow Lions, Lucknow Strikers, Lucknow Aces, Lucknow Panthers and Lucknow Challengers was done through a digital spin wheel. A total of 18 matches will be played between six teams. With player selection and auction scheduled in December and January. Franchises were also allowed 1 marque player in the event. Vipraj Nigam (Lucknow Lions), Zeeshan Ansari (Lucknow Aces), Akshdeep Nath (Lucknow Strikers), Naman Tiwari (Lucknow Nawabs), Upendra Yadav (Lucknow Challengers) and Ansh Yadav (Lucknow Panthers) were among the ones which were drafted to different franchises. The LPL is being managed by Quad Sports.
