GORAKHPUR, Nov. 27 -- Three days after a 20-year-old newly-married woman was found murdered in the bathroom at her home in Jungle Rasoolpur village under the Jhanha police station limits in Gorakhpur, her alleged lover was arrested from Varanasi on Wednesday, police said. The accused was identified as Vinay Nishad alias Deepak. According to police, call records, CCTV footage, and a dog squad trail helped uncover a three-year secret relationship which continued even after her marriage in May 2025. As per reports, Shivani, 20, was found murdered on the night of November 23. SP (north) Gyanendra Prasad said, "The attack was brutal, with multiple deep cuts found on the neck. Evidence clearly indicates a fierce struggle. The accused has owned up to the crime and that the murder weapon, a sickle, has also been recovered." The accused claimed that the woman was pressuring him to continue the relationship, which he cited as the motive for murder.
