Loot bid: truck Driver shot dead by Assailants
PRAYAGRAJ, May 18 -- Unidentified miscreants shot dead the driver of a truck loaded with copper worth over Rs 3.5 crore. The truck was going from Gujarat to Kanpur.
The incident occurred under Kokhraj police station area of Kaushambi where the body of the driver was found thrown in the bushes next to a Dhaba near Kakodha village.
Seeing the police cordon, the miscreants fled leaving the copper-laden truck and an Ertiga car on the highway. The incident is said to have happened late on Friday night. Four police teams have been deployed to arrest the miscreants.
Sarwar Mall, 40, a resident of Jagpura under Nasirabad police station area of Alwar district in Rajasthan, was a truck owner. He had left for Kanpur from Vapi in Gujarat with copper worth over Rs 3.5 crore loaded in the truck. On Friday night, Mall's body was found in the bushes next to Basera Dhaba.
He was shot in the head and stomach. During the investigation, the police found the truck loaded with copper from the highway near Chakwan. An Ertiga car was also recovered, which is said to be used by the miscreants in the robbery.
Police registered a case of robbery and murder.
