PRAYAGRAJ, April 6 -- In a shocking daylight incident in Dhoomanganj, Prayagraj, a lodge owner allegedly attacked a medical representative and his elderly mother with a drill machine following a dispute over constructing a gate. The brutal assault left both victims with fractured skulls, while a neighbour who tried to intervene was also beaten. A video of the incident has since surfaced, triggering outrage in the locality. The injured have been identified as Anand Jaiswal, a medical representative residing in OPS Nagar, Rajruppur, and his mother Neelam Jaiswal. According to Neelam, their neighbour Purushottam Pandey, who runs a lodge nearby, is known for frequent quarrels. She said that a few days before the attack, Pandey drove his vehicle recklessly through the lane, narrowly missing her one-year-old grandson and other children. When she objected, he allegedly became aggressive. The matter escalated on Saturday evening when Pandey allegedly tried to construct a gate in the wall of his building adjacent to Jaiswal's backyard. Neelam said she objected to this, following which the accused lodge owner used filthy language. Police were informed and both parties were taken to the police outpost, where it was agreed that neither side would carry out construction work at the disputed site. However, Neelam alleged that after returning home, Pandey resumed work. When she objected again, he allegedly picked up a drill machine from his house and attacked her on the head. Hearing her screams, her son Anand and neighbour Ajit Kesharwani rushed to help but were also attacked with the drill machine. The accused allegedly chased and beat them besides issuing death threats before fleeing the scene. All the injured were rushed to hospital as their condition was reported to be serious due to head injuries. Based on a written complaint filed by the victims, police have registered a case.
