LUCKNOW, Oct. 17 -- Uttar Pradesh's young tennis stars delivered impressive performances in the AITA Super Series Under-18 Tennis Tournament on Thursday, bringing glory to the state. In the boys' singles category, Rishi Yadav and Sanidhya Dwivedi secured their places in the final by winning their respective semi-final matches, while in the girls' singles category, Miraya Agarwal advanced to the title match. Rishi Yadav will now take the court on Friday with a dual challenge, vying for both the singles and doubles titles, at the La Martiniere Tennis Facility. In the first boys' singles semi-final, third-seeded Rishi Yadav defeated sixth-seeded Raghav Prabhu of Telangana 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. After losing the opening set, Rishi made a brilliant comeback, winning two consecutive sets to advance to the final. On the contrary, it was an easy task for eighth seed Sanidhya Dwivedi, who defeated compatriot Anuj Kumar 6-0, 6-3. In the first girls' singles semi-final, unseeded Aadya Chaurasia of Karnataka caused an upset, defeating top seeded Sneh Nandal of Delhi 7-5, 6-3, whereas in the second semi-final, seventh seed Miraya Agarwal defeated Mehar Sharma of Delhi 6-3, 6-1. The boys' doubles saw Uttar Pradesh players shine as the duo of Rishi Yadav and Sanidhya Dwivedi defeated Shreyansh Sahni and Kalash Kumar of West Bengal 6-1, 6-4 to secure a place in the final. In the second semi-final, the pair of Anuj Kumar and Anuruddha Kumar defeated Mehar Khosla and Aarav Bhaskar 6-4, 6-4. Spirited Lucknow defeated Gorakhpur by a solitary goal to make it to the final of the Senior Men's Football Tournament at Ayodhya on Thursday. Farooq scored the all-important goal in the 55th minute. The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya State Level Senior Women's Football Tournament will be held from October 25 to 30. Trials to pick the Lucknow team will take place on Oct 18....
