LMC told to prioritise Gomti cleaning
Lucknow, Nov. 11 -- Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) was on Monday asked to prioritise the cleaning of the Gomti River.
During a review of the Gomti's cleanliness, divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant said the Gomti's 22-km path in the city was under the jurisdiction of the corporation, which should prioritise its cleaning and use equipment to regularly provide accurate information about the amount of garbage removed from the River.
The DC directed officials to prioritise the cleaning of main roads, door-to-door garbage collection, and road sweeping. Road sweeping should be conducted regularly from 5 am to 9 am, he added. Any laxity will not be tolerated.
Concerned officials will ensure regular field visits and cleanliness throughout the city.
He also instructed that the manpower and machinery required for cleaning work must be increased. He added 100% door-to-door garbage collection should be done in the entire area of the corporation.
Pant also reviewed road repair and improvements, drainage, sewerage, green space development, traffic improvements, and other infrastructure works, and provided necessary instructions.
He also reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister's Global Urban Development Scheme and directed that the ongoing construction of Kharagpur, Kudia Ghat, Sahitya Park, and a working women's hostel should ensure their quality.
