LUCKNOW, June 5 -- Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) said it would launch a mega public awareness programme on the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday. The drive, which will also coincide with Ganga Dussehra and chief minister Yogi Adityanath's birthday, will start at 6:00 am from Laxman Mela Ground to Gulala Ghat, an official note stated. The campaign's key focus will be raising awareness against single-use plastic and encouraging citizen-driven environmental action. Officials said the programme would highlight the theme "End Plastic Pollution at a Global Level" and seek community participation for the purpose. The event will be attended by urban development minister A.K. Sharma, who will be the chief guest, and Mayor Sushma Kharkwal will preside over the function.
